NOVEMBER 19,2020-VIRTUAL EDITION

Sleep on the street for one night so homeless kids don’t have to.

4.2 million kids in America will face homelessness this year.

Covenant House Michigan provides these homeless young people with safe shelter and wrap-around services, including education and job training, so they can move forward to an adulthood free of poverty and the threat of homelessness.

In order for us to stay safe during this public health crisis, sleepers, staff and especially our residents, Sleep Out: Executive Edition 2020 is now VIRTUAL! You can create a meaningful Sleep Out experience from wherever you are: the floor of your kitchen, your backyard if you have one, or even your couch.  Remember, Sleep Out is meant to be night of solidarity with the young people who experience homelessness every year.

While we can’t meet in person, your Virtual Sleep Out experience will be just as important. Spend an evening with us, learning about our shelters in Detroit and Grand Rapids, the programs we provide to our residents and hear directly from them about their experience at Covenant House Michigan.

You can make a big difference for homeless kids.

Sign up to Sleep Out with us! We are excited to be able to open up this event to everyone! Because you can Sleep Out where you are, we encourage you to invite your friends, family, co-workers, church members, and your community to sign up and raise funds for homeless and at-risk youth!

Fundraise for Covenant House Michigan to keep the lights on and the doors open for kids in need. Then, spend a virtual evening getting to know some of the young people whose lives will be better because of your efforts on their behalf – and spend the rest of the night sleeping “on the street” in their place.

Youth Homelessness Candlelight VIGIL November 19, 2020-VIRTUAL

Thu, Nov 19, 2020 @ 6:00pm
Covenant House Michigan - Detroit
2959 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd
Detroit, MI 48208

At Covenant House Michigan, we understand that providing shelter, food, and basic needs to homeless youth is only part of the solution. These young people also have a right to safety, guidance, education and, most importantly, to be loved. We believe that it is our responsibility as a community to ensure that every homeless and trafficked young person has an opportunity to pursue their dream, because no young person deserves to be homeless.

The week of November 16-20, 2020 is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, with November 19 specifically designated to bring attention to homeless youth. As in the past, we will host host our Youth Homelessness Candlelight Vigil to honor those still on the streets and the ones we have lost to homelessness. However, due to the current health crisis, Vigil this year will be VIRTUAL.

Please join our community to light a candle for homeless youth and say a prayer for their safety. We will be joined again this year with our emcees, Amy Lange from FOX2 and Shannon Murphy from Channel 95.5.

Look for more information coming soon, including how to register for the event.
