Annual Candlelight Vigil Against Youth Homelessness

Thu, Nov 16, 2017 @ 6:00pm
Covenant House Michigan
2959 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd
Detroit, MI 48208

National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week takes place each year on the week before Thanksgiving. Join us on November 16 for a candlelight vigil as we raise awareness of youth homelessness and light candles of hope for the thousands of youth who have no place to call home.

Make sure to bundle up because this year’s vigil will be held entirely outside. Together, we’ll get a glimpse of the hardships homeless young people go through as they face inclement weather in November.

We’ll sing, pray, light candles and recite the Children’s Bill of Rights, hear testimonies from formerly homeless young people and kick off the 2017 Sleep Out: Executive Edition where close to a hundred business leaders will sleep out on our campus.

For more information, call 313.463.2005 or email mgolpe@covenanthouse.org.

Sleep on the street so homeless kids don’t have to.

Nearly 2 million kids in America will face homelessness this year.

Covenant House exists to provide these young people with safe shelter and wrap-around social services including education and job training so they can move forward to an adulthood free of violence, poverty, and the threat of homelessness.

You can make a big difference for homeless kids.

Sign up to Sleep Out with us. Fundraise for Covenant House Michigan to keep the lights on and the doors open for all of the kids who need help. Then, spend one evening getting to know some of the kids whose lives will be better because of your work – and spend the rest of the night sleeping on the street in their place.

Sleep Out for one night so a homeless kid can have a better life.
