Communications and Special Events Internship

Intern position available for student in non-profit management, public relations, communications or relevant field of study to assist with Social Media, photography, writing projects, special events, etc.  Hours can vary based on availability but would prefer at least 2-3 days per week.  This internship can be used for college credit.



  • Member of the Development and Communications team
  • Works to keep social media (all platforms) and website content current
  • On-campus photographer for events, volunteer activities, etc.
  • Works closely with team to ensure content marketing is up to date, seamless and relevant
  • Composes messaging and visuals for social media, website and other communication mediums, highlighting donors, volunteers and agency events
  • Assists with special events and fundraising activities
  • Works to assist department in creating fundraising appeals, both print and electronic
  • Perform other tasks as requested by Director of Development and Communications


  • Associate or Bachelor level program student
  • Knowledge of various forms of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Excellent writing skills; the ability to write content for social media platforms and printed communication pieces
  • PC/Computer experience with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe software (In Design), WordPress and videography experience a plus
  • Willingness to work various hours
  • Desire to learn in the area of non-profit Development and Communications
  • Belief in Covenant House Mission Statement and desire to fulfill the mission
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of homeless and at‐risk youth
