Sleep Out: Young Professional Edition 2020

Sleepers, Take Note!

In the interest of everyone’s health and well being, the event will not take place on campus as originally planned. Following the lead of our sister Covenant Houses throughout the country, we are transitioning to a virtual format for the event.

What is a Virtual Sleep Out?

It is a night in solidarity with our youth, whether that is on the patio of your apartment, in a backyard or surfing on a friends couch. We are developing plans for you to engage with your fellow sleepers via social media, video clips and “Cov Cam” interviews throughout the evening.

Detroit Hustles Harder – and So Do We!

We will share additional resources with you as they become available. Not exactly what we planned, but an amazing opportunity to rally behind the young men and women here at the Cov who most definitley appreciate a safe, warm bed, hot meals and a chance to fulfill the great promise of their lives.

Stay Tuned!

Every March, members of the Covenant House Michigan Associate Board (CHMAB) spearhead the Sleep Out: Young Professional Edition along with Covenant House sites across the United States – sleeping out so homeless youth don’t have to! Covenant House Michigan Associate Board (CHMAB) is a group of like-minded young professionals who work together to make a positive impact on the residents at Covenant House Michigan through fundraising, social events, and resident activity nights. Since launching in 2017,  Sleep Out: Young Professional Edition has raised over $175,000 in support of the homeless and at-risk youth served at Covenant House Michigan.

Meet this Year’s Event Co-Chairs:

As much as I prefer sleeping in a warm bed, Sleep Out has become something I look forward to each year.  Meeting the youth of CHM and hearing their stories is always a reminder of just how life changing shelter and support can be.  Covenant House is changing the lives of Detroit youth and it’s inspiring to be part of that. – Bri Bloxsom, Co-Chair

I am excited and honored to be sleeping out for my third year in a row. It’s an eye opening experience that reminds you how much beauty and power is created through community, in spite of the hardships life can throw our way. The Sleep Out reminds you how important support and kindness matter in the life of a young person.  I am so proud to be involved with an organization that provides key resources to such incredible residents, and am looking forward to spending a night outside to honor the residents – past and present – that deserve every opportunity CHM has to offer and more. – Emily Sheeran, Co-Chair
