At Covenant House Michigan, we understand that providing shelter, food, and basic needs to homeless youth is only part of the solution. These young people also have a right to safety, guidance, education and, most importantly, to be loved, because no young person deserves to be homeless. We believe that it is our responsibility as a community to ensure that every homeless and trafficked young person has an opportunity to pursue their dream.
The week of November 10 – 18, 2018 is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, with November 15 specifically designated to bring attention to homeless youth. For the past several years, Covenant House Michigan has held our Youth Homelessness Candlelight Vigil on our campus prior to our Sleep Out: Executive Edition overnight event. This event has outgrown our small campus space due to the increasing number of participants.
We are excited to partner with DTE Energy Beacon Park Foundation to have our Youth Homelessness Candlelight Vigil at Beacon Park in the early evening of November 15, 2018. We will begin to gather at 5:30 p.m. with the program starting at 6:00 p.m.
Come to light a candle and a say a prayer for those youth who still need our help.
