Director of Development-Grand Rapids campus

Steven joined Covenant House Michigan in 2020 as Director of Development for the Grand Rapids Campus. His team is responsible for cultivating financial and in-kind support in West Michigan.
He has a 25+ year career in fundraising in New York City and Grand Rapids with a focus on corporate and foundation giving. He previously served as director of foundation giving for Grand Valley State University for 13 years. During his time at GVSU, he worked on six capital campaigns and supported numerous community programs, which raised close to $100 million from foundations and corporate foundations. His highlight was writing a $15 million proposal funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Steven previously worked for a hands-on science museum, a historic preservation group, a Catholic liberal arts college, and a faith-based free-market think tank.
Steven gives back to his profession by hosting the monthly Grant Writers Roundtable of Grand Rapids for the past 12 years. He is on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals – West Michigan and a member of the Econ Club of Grand Rapids.
Having grown up in the Detroit area, he went to the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Temple University in Philadelphia for graduate school. Steven lives in Grand Rapids with his wife, youngest daughter who goes to public school, and two little rescue dogs who bedevil and befuddle him. He also has two older daughters, one is enrolled at the University of Michigan, and the other works in corporate finance on Madison Avenue.
He enjoys visiting art museums, which works well as he follows his globe-trotting wife. He also likes to run 5k races and do weightlifting to stay mentally and physically fit. His favorite food is tacos and he has been known to visit a local brewery or two.
