J. Crawford Communications
Joseph P. Crawford spent 35 years in Michigan journalism, 23 as editorial page editor of The Grand Rapids Press. Since 2007, he has been an independent writer, editor and political consultant, organized as J. Crawford Communications, LLC.
Joe has served numerous statewide and community organizations, currently including the Foundation Board of Hospice of Michigan and the Board of the Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation. Gov. Jennifer Granholm appointed him to the Michigan Mentor Leadership Council. He was named to the Endorsement Council of the Citizens Leadership Council of Michigan and is a former president of the Notre Dame Club of Grand Rapids. He is an active patient-support volunteer for Hospice of Michigan and has served as a campaign advisor to West Michigan’s U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga. Joe received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and is an alumnus of the University of Detroit High School. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and a recipient of the Army Commendation Medal.
Joe and his wife Martha have been married for 42 years. They live in East Grand Rapids and are active members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Grand Rapids. They have three children and two grandchildren.
